I've been using Mathematica to analyze data on packomania.com for packing circles into a circle. More specifically, I've looked at the packing of integer, square root integer, inverse square root integer, inverse two-thirds power integer and inverse one-fith power radii circles. It appears that the packing factor (total area of circles/area of circumscribing circle) goes approximately as pfmax - 1/number of circles. Anyone understand this?
