Mathematica 11.0.0 for Linux

Posted 9 years ago

Hello everybody,

I work on a PC with Mathematica 10.1 installed on it and with Windows 7 as the operational system. I want to connect to a remote HPC with Linux as the operational system, on which Mathematica 11.0 is installed. When I tried to run a Mathemattica 10.1 file in such a way (with the connection to HPC), i received the following output:

Mathematica 11.0.0 for Linux x86 (64-bit) Copyright 1988-2016 Wolfram Research, Inc.

Mathematica cannot find a valid password.

For automatic Web Activation enter your activation key (enter return to skip Web Activation): You will need to get a password from your license certificate or from Wolfram Research (http://register.wolfram.com). Machine name: sge185 MathID: 6533-84799-10883

You will need a valid activation key and password in order to proceed. Go to http://user.wolfram.com to register your activation key and obtain the password.

Enter your Activation key [format xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxx]: Enter your password: The password you entered is not valid. Please press Enter to quit.

What have I to do for fixing this problem?

Sincerely yours,

Haim

No, the existing installation of Mathematica 11.0 on the remote Linux machine needs to be activated. If there's someone specifically in charge of administration and software installation / licensing for the HPC at your university, that's the person to ask about this.

Thank you for your reply. I get my copy of Mathematica thru my university. Do you mean that I have to download Mathematica 11.0 on my PC and activate it?

The installation on Linux isn't activated.

If you get your copy of Mathematica thru your university or company. I would talk to them about getting a license for that installation.

If you get your copy of Mathematica directly from Wolfram Research, I would contact Wolfram Customer Support.
