Often in applying FEM to physical situations, difficulties (error messages,non-physical solutions) are encountered. Using a diffusion example with axial symmetry I illustrate some difficulties and their resolutions. The example, difficulties and their resolutions are in the "diffusiondemo.nb" and "sample1D diff.nb" attachments.
