I am developing an internal combustion engine, and using Mathematica to create a 0-D thermodynamic model of the Compression and Power strokes, which run for one revolution. The model incorporates the following real life affects: a) conservation of energy b) heat flow to/from cylinder walls c) injection of thermal energy at a certain time, to simulate fuel burn d) actual stiffness of the crank system below the piston e) blow by of gases past the piston f) friction between piston and cylinder
