ABOUT ME:

Aerospace Medicine, physician and test pilot, Naval Aviator/Flight Surgeon Captain Medical Corps USNR(ret) Adjunct Prof Rice.edu/mechE former Assoc Prof Aerospace Medicine, USN Postgraduate School

I worked on advanced display for combat pilots in USN and USMC with tours at USAF and USArmy. Spatial Disorientation and Flight Motion Effects including G-induced loss of consciousness, Loss of Situation Awareness, and related mishap prevention and investigations.

Post active duty I explore complex adaptive human-system-environmental interfaces by teaching as ATP and CFI in experimental Lancairs and VLJets, using these platforms and advanced instrumentation as a laboratory for our MechE course at Rice University.

I've cherished courses at Santa.edu in complexity with Prof Gell Mann, got to visit Burt Rutan and his Seaplane in his garage, tested the limits of weight and balance with maximum computer displays and instrumentation as well as the patience of avionics shop techs, and continue trying to figure out Carver Mead's Collective Electrodynamics as a clue to Cramer's TIQM and Kastener's exploration.

Today, I'm working on using iPhone bedside ultrasound, networked by telemedicine, to defeat nCoV2, ventilator surge systems design, and developing a model to better explain exponential behavior, of pandemics to the public, in the hope of calming the fear induced by uncertainty and sensationalization.
