I earned a Ph.D. in logic (recursion theory) in the 1970s and have had a number of positions since then that have little to do with symbolic logic. My first job after graduate school did not carry a title as I was a single-person consultant to a single manager at a manufacturing firm modeling the human factors aspects of hardware while it was being designed and prototyped. After that I have worked in operations research with an organization that consulted for the U.S. Navy followed by a long stint in software development. I also spent some time as a consultant and instructor in object-oriented analysis and design.
