ABOUT ME:

Emmanuel Guillerm is a postdoctoral researcher at the geoscience research center GFZ, Potsdam, Germany, and a visiting scholar at Binghamton University, NY, USA. He completed his PhD thesis in 2019 in Lyon, France, on the development of an analytical technique to reconstruct past temperatures from microdroplets (so called "fluid inclusions") trapped in salt minerals. He studies past climates and environments across geological times, with a main focus on hypersaline lakes and arid regions. His approach combines empiricism and modelling. His lab-work mainly focuses on halite ("table salt") and its fluid inclusions (microthermometry, Brillouin spectroscopy, Laser ablation inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS)). His modelling work investigates the dynamics of saline lakes and the physico-chemical behavior of halite fluid inclusions, with Mathematica and Fortran as main languages. Emmanuel's other interests are social sciences, history, archeology, birds, hiking, among other things.
