User Portlet

I am a retiree, an engineer by profession, and a math enthusiast. I am new to Wolfram Mathematica, and to Wolfram Programming language for that matter, having installed Mathematica 10.4.1 on my PC laptop a few weeks ago. My main interest at this time is to use it as a word processor. I am doing some calculus tutoring and need to put a few notebooks for my students which include text with formulas and graphs. I find that playing with different fonts/sizes can be tricky sometimes. I'd be interested to hear back from anyone who is familiar with using Mathematica as a word processor and may be opened for a question or two about the matter. Thanks in advance, Greg.
