John Bechhoefer is Distinguished SFU Professor at Simon Fraser University, in the Department of Physics. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and of the American Physical Society. His research is at the intersection of thermodynamics, statistical physics, control theory, and information theory. He has been a fan of Mathematica since the days of SMP and values its ability to help an experimentalist tackle problems that formerly were only accessible to theorists.
