ABOUT ME:

I am currently employed as a Group Leader in Chair of Mathematics for Uncertainty Quantification, RWTH Aachen, Germany. I develop efficient numerical methods for analysis of large data sets (e.g., obtained from satellites), solving inverse problems, parameter inference, solving partial differential equations with uncertain and multi-scale coefficients. My applications include subsurface flow modelling, water pollution, forecast of the daily moisture, analysis of large data sets, numerical aerodynamics and electro-magnetic scattering. All these tasks require an enormous amount of computational resources and, therefore, I am also interested in practical parallel algorithms and implementations. I earned my B.Sc. degree (2000) and M.Sc. degree (2002) in Mathematics at the Novosibirsk State University, Russia. During my Ph.D. research (2002 to 2006, at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences with Professor W. Hackbusch), I combined domain decomposition methods and hierarchical matrices to solve elliptic PDEs with multi-scale coefficients. From 2007-2013, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with Professor H. Matthies at the TU Braunschweig, Germany. 2013-2018 Research Scientist at KAUST, Saudi Arabia
