Sarim Mominkhawaja is aspiring to professionally enter the field of biotechnology and is passionate about the practical applications of computer science to create meaningful change in areas like disease control and natural language processing. A researcher at Rice University under Dr. Young, he developed a low-cost multisensor smartwatch that incorporates accelerometry, pedometry, and Bluetooth-enabled telemetry to monitor neuromotor decline via neurodegenerative diseases using real-time biosignal processing techniques such as fall detection algorithms. He has interned at Axablock, a startup aiming to solve social media addiction with monetary incentives, and worked on UI design, API integration, and database management using React Native and Python with the Axablock app. Sarim also worked at the PulmonaryWellness Foundation, developing a patient-centric digital health platform to enhance post-pulmonary disease recovery.
