I am an Optical Technologist at Meta Platforms involved in polarization optical design since 2022. From 2002-2022 I was Professor of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona where I taught two courses "Polarized Light and Polarimetry" and "Polarization in Optical Design" using my textbook "Polarized Light and Optical Systems" by Chipman, Tiffany Lam, and Garam Young, published by CRC Press in 2018. My Laboratory was dedicated to polarization measurements, particularly Mueller matrix imaging polarimeters, for UV, visible, near and far IR. Liquid crystal cells, polarizing films, anisotropic materials, and precision optical components were areas of study. In 2016 I cofounded Airy Optics, Inc. which provides a Mathematica-based optical design and polarization analysis software and engineering services. I have an appointment as a Visiting Professor at Japan's leading Optical Engineering Center, CORE, the Center for Optics Research and Education at Utsunomiya University, where my great friend Prof. Yukitoshi Otani teaches.
