ABOUT ME:

Sergiy Kostrikov enrolled in the School of Geology and Geography at Kharkiv State University in 1973, graduating with honors in June 1979. Sergiy began his career as a geography teacher before joining Kharkiv State University in 1984 as a researcher and later a senior researcher. He defended his PhD dissertation in 1992 and earned a master's degree in Environmental Science and Environmental Policy through a joint program with the Central European University and the University of Manchester in 2000. Since September 1996, he has served as an associate professor, and since 2007, as a full professor of Geography at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Sergiy defended his Doctor of Science dissertation in January 2007. During the 2001-2002 academic year, he was a visiting scientist at the Department of Geography at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and in the fall semester of 2007, he worked as an Eastern Lecture-Scholar at St. John's College, University of Oxford. His research interests include GIS modeling and analysis in urban studies, software development for GIS platforms, environmental management using information technologies, LiDAR data processing and modeling, and geoinformation science, urban remote sensing. Sergiy Kostrikov has been honored with the George Soros Fellowship Award (1997), the Fulbright Program Fellowship Award (2001), the Second degree Karazin Award from V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (2018), and an individual Scholar Without Boards research grant (2024).
