User Portlet

I am a student mining engineer. Working at an underground gold mine in New Zealand while studying Master's of Mining Engineering via distance learning. I am in the process of a career change from banking, stockbroking, trading and investments to mining. I would like to combine my previous training and experience in economics and finance with engineering in some way. Optimization and improvement of systems and business is something that interests me as well as the ability to simulate it for different outcomes.

I am new to Mathematica but keen to learn.
