Suppress "Why The Beep?" messages in Mathematica?

Posted 6 years ago

I am opening 40+ Mathematica files to grade them. When I open them, they each require me to click "OK" to the prompt "This notebook was created in a more recent version of the Wolfram System, and may not function properly with the older front end you are using. Contact Wolfram Research (www.wolfram.com) for upgrade information."

How can I suppress this message without upgrading?

Thanks for your help.

Go to Format -> Option Inspector..., select Global Preferences, search for InsufficientVersionWarning, and set it to False.

However, I would recommend using the same version of Mathematica as your students, if possible. It is perfectly fine to have multiple versions installed if you need to keep the older version for some reason. Just go to Preferences -> Advanced and switch on version-specific preferences for a bit of additional safety.
