Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and the Wolfram Language, is seeking a passionate Social Media Intern to join our Public Relations department. This will be a part-time internship with up to 20 hours per week.

Our PR department focuses on distributing company messaging through traditional, social and emerging media; increasing awareness of the Wolfram brands; and encouraging the use of Wolfram products. This intern will provide social media support by bringing in a diverse perspective on current and future content creation and engagement and by working to increase the quantity and variety of posts and the number of impressions and link clicks. This internship has the potential of transitioning into a full-time role.

Responsibilities

Keep the team informed of social media trends and updates and recommend courses of action based on this information Create engaging content and copy for different social media platforms and audiences based on an editorial calendar Identify opportunities for and participate in company engagement on social media channels Review social media analytics with the Social Media Manager and draw actionable insights to present to the PR team Carry out previously created social media strategy guide for corporate channels Prepare content and participate in brainstorming sessions for general PR efforts, including traditional media, news and social websites, forums and other mediums Support the PR team’s event preparation Qualifications

The ability to prioritize tasks and take initiative The ability to multitask and stay organized Excellent oral and written communication skills Open-mindedness, the ability to learn quickly, adaptability and creativity An understanding of or a background in a science- and/or mathematics-related field Familiarity with Mathematica and the Wolfram Language Interest or experience in marketing, communications and social media in the tech sector In-depth knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Tumblr as both a user and a marketer An understanding of how to capitalize on audience engagement to further the PR team’s goals
