How compute inverse function of a given function?

Posted 4 years ago

Hello,

What is the proper W|A syntax to compute the inverse of a function, say the inverse function of y = x^3 from x = -1 to 1? (No matter what I have tried, W|A interprets "reciprocal" as meaning "1 over", so the "reciprocal of y= x^2" is "1/x^2". That's not what I wanted)

Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill,

Is this what you are looking for?

For y=x^3 your solution gives the answer. But how can I use the solution to plot the inverse function from x = -1 to 1?

Thanks, Bill

Find the inverse function of x^3 and plot from x= -1 to 1 in a single step
