Cursor disappears in Mathematica 12.0

Posted 4 years ago

Hello,

I've been running Mathematica for a long while on Linux and sometimes (especially on Ubuntu 19.10 running GNOME, less so when running MATE), my cursor just disappears from the window. It exists when I leave the window and disappears when I bring it back in. This is a fresh install of Mathematica 12.0. This happened to me sometimes when running 11.2 and 11.3 as well. This issue has popped up on multiple computers running Ubuntu. It is incredibly distracting.

I have done some research to see if other users are experiencing the same problem and I have found little help.

There are only a few other people who have experienced this issue and it was a while ago: https://community.wolfram.com/groups/-/m/t/199381 https://mathematica.stackexchange.com/questions/40626/mouse-cursor-disappears?lq=1 https://mathematica.stackexchange.com/questions/42189/cursor-disappears-in-mathematica-9-01

I would like to file a bug report with Wolfram as this really degrades the product experience, but I don't think that I have enough information to give them that would make a meaningful report. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue or have any ideas what information Wolfram might wish to fix this bug? I normally would just say that it is my computer, but the fact that this happens on multiple computers is quite strange.

Zack

P.S. This also occurs very frequently in the wolfram script editor when I click into the text box
