How do I connect to a remote kernel?

Posted 11 years ago
I would like to connect Mathematica to a remote kernel using some sort of web service, e.g. AWS or Rackspace, but I am still very new to Mathematica in particular and power computing in general, so don't really have any idea where to start.
Are there any online guides or tutorials that go through the entire process of exactly how to go about setting up a remote server to run as a kernel, and then how to connect to it?
Failing a freely available online resource, would anybody be able to give me some guidelines on how I would go about doing it?

Thank you
Aron
