Plot function evaluation fails

I have a problem visualizing my plots. Example when I evaluate the following expression:
In[1]= Plot[Sin[x], {x, 0, 6 Pi}]
the  outout shows that 
Out[1]= -Graphics-
does any one can help ?

Plot[Sin[x],{x,0,6 Pi}]

the syntax is correct, this happens even when I evaluate the help plot examples.
so, it is not related to expression syntax but probably to some system setting or missing programs

Most probably you are working on Mathematica Kernel version 6 or higher. Actually I am facing the same problem, it is perhaps because the Kernel doesnot display graphics. For graphics in kernel, you need to instruct the kernel to open >>JavaGraphics` , but in all the latest version this fails.
