What determines a machines MathID?

Posted 11 years ago
My network cards name changed from p3p1 to enp12s0 during an update, which caused Mathematica to think it was unregistered and the activation key didn't work because it thinks it's still registered to another machine.
I changed the networks cards name back to p3p1 but for some reason my MathID is still not what it was before,
what other factors are used to calculate the MathID that might have also changed?

Though I don't kow the answer to your question, I'd suggest that you contact Wolfram Support about licensing problems.  Hopefully they will provide a quick solution to you.

Sure was quick, they sorted it out in under a minute. But it was weekend when I posted, had to refresh my lua skills a bit emoticon
