I am fairly new to Mathematica and have just installed Mathematica 10 on a Windows 8.1 system. The Algebraic Manipulation Palette does not seem to function correctly. In particular, clicking on a command from the palette, Expand[ ], for example, causes the command to be highlighted in the input area for a brief time and then to disappear leaving only a single box for the entry of an expression. The actual algebraic command, Expand in this case, does not appear at all. Has anyone else experienced this behavior or am I misunderstanding the use of the palette in some manner?
