ChatGPT Plus and Wolfram GPT

Posted 1 year ago

I am considering signing up to ChatGPT plus to gain access to the Wolfram GPT. However, I am reading that calls to GPT 4 via the PLUS subscription are limited to roughly 10/day which is not very much and seems to be even less for 20$/month. Does the Wolfram GPT have the same limitation?

Sincerely
Berthold

Hi Berthold,

Where did you read this?

I am reading that calls to GPT 4 via the PLUS subscription are limited to roughly 10/day

I have not had any problem with hundreds of API requests per day. OpenAI Rate limits are documented here.

I saw this on several discussion groups. This is one link that pops up when you search for chatgpt plus limits https://community.openai.com/t/chatgpt-plus-and-usage-limits-mistranslation-of-3-hours-3-days-in-many-languages/544425?page=2

I think those limits apply when you use the OpenAI chat interface. I rarely use that interface and prefer Wolfram Chat-Enabled or Chat-Driven notebooks and the LLM functions. They use the API and are not subject to those limits.

Thanks Rohit!

Forgive me for the very basic questions!

Until now, I only used the free API via TheBrain. I never used the chat interface or GPT-chat apps available.

I am still a little confused about the distinction between chat-GPT plus and the token fees for the API. I assume subscribing to chat GPT plus only gives access to custom APIs like the Wolfram GPT, but does not provide a flat-rate for using the models, correct? In other words, do I have to have a payment method setup in my OpenAi account to use GPT-4 independently of a Chat-GPT plus subscription?

Thank you and kind regards

Berthold

Hello again,

I signed up for chatGPT PLus now, but the Wolfram GPT plugin is apparently not installed or at least not available. I am still limited to GPT 3.5 and the Wolfram GPT does not show up as an option. Is there anything else that has to be done?

Thank you and kind regards

Hi Berthold

For me, it took a couple of days between signing up and getting access to plugins.

In other words, do I have to have a payment method setup in my OpenAi account to use GPT-4 independently of a Chat-GPT plus subscription?

Yes, a payment method is needed to use the API.

You might be interested in the LLM section of this video. A link to the notebook is in the chat replay.

I have access to ChatGPT Plus subscription and from my experience I can say that this limit is arbitrary and OpenAI keeps changing it in response to their server load.

That said, for me it has hovered between 40 messages per 3 hours to 20 messages per 3 hours.

By the way, the ChatGPT integration with Wolfram is pretty poor, if you want, you can message me, and I will show it to you, so you know if it works for you before getting the subscription.

Thank you David , Hashir and Rohit,

I signed up for a month to the chatGPT plus service to try it out and I can see that the implementation of Wolfram GPT in the chatbooks is not at all what I thought it would be. I was under the impression that I could select a Wolfram GPT model directly from within a notebook. I don't really see the point for having a Wolfram GPT specialised in wolfram language that can only be accessed via https://chat.openai.com/.

I opened a ticket with wolfram support to see what they have to say about it.

If you watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwM27DFOztM at about minute 10, it clearly seems as if there was a fine tuned Wolfram GPT model available within Mathematica.

Kind regards

Berthold

Hi Hashir,

Can you please elaborate on

the ChatGPT integration with Wolfram is pretty poor

I think chat driven and chat enabled notebooks, the prompt repository and the tool repository provide excellent integration between GPT-4/3.5 and the Wolfram Language.

What aspect of the integration do you consider to be "poor"?

Hi Rohit,

I have not used Chat enabled interface within Mathematica, I was referring to the Wolfram plugin inside ChatGPT.
