Can I calculate the mass of a cylinder in Wolfram Alpha?

Posted 7 months ago

I tried

cylinder 1.75 mm diameter 330 m length 1.23 g/cm³ density

and

cylinder diameter=1.75 mm height=330 m density=1.23 g/cm^3

and a couple of combinations and variations of those but none gave me the mass of the cylinder. (It's a spool of 3D printing filament by the way.)

Perhaps try

pi * (1.75/2 mm)^2 * 330 meters * 1.23 g/cm^3

for which WolframAlpha returns 976.3 grams

If I were the kind of person who could remember how to calculate the volume of a cylinder I wouldn't be using W|A. :)

Ah, now I understand your question a little bit better

WA

volume of cylinder 1.75 mm diameter 330 m length

returns 794 cm^3

WA

794 cm^3 * 1.23 g/cm^3

returns 976.6 grams

Now if I could put that in one query it would be perfect. I tried

(volume of cylinder 1.75 mm diameter 330 m length) * 1.23 g/cm^3

but that didn't work.
