Why is the output repeated?

Posted 6 days ago

Sometimes, when the input is evaluated, a new output is generated and the previous output remains below the new output. This keeps happening every time I evaluate the cell, so I get as many outputs as the number of evaluations. And of course, the old output(s) appear in gray (with some degree of transparency), while the new output appears dark as usual. This happens in some cells only, and I don't know what makes the difference between those having this repetition and those not.

The most likely cause is a setting called "OutputAutoOverwrite". What you describe sounds like what would happen if that setting were set to False. You can set it back to True in the option inspector. If that doesn't fix it, then we'd need more details to figure it out.

Hi Eric,

Thank you for your response and sorry for the late reply.

I did not find this setting as it seems obsolete; however, when I deleted the cell and inserted it again, the problem disappeared. This may be helpful in future similar complaints.

Kind regards

I confirm that I sporadically have the same problem.

Can I change this setting globally for all cells in my workbook?
