This is cool! Can one interpret the propagation of perturbations as the production of a kind of 'particle'? I guess some periodic propagation is a kind of particle that 'persists'

Thank you, Pedro! Actually, yes, these localized defects are usually referred to as particles, especially those with periodic propagation (for us, Class 1.2). With this in mind, an interesting future application would be to try to find two of these gliders that move in opposite directions (in the same rule and background) and try to "collide them" - make them interact.
