How to patch ExcelLink 3.6 to work for Mathematica 10.1

Posted 9 years ago

A customer of CANdiensten, the well-known Wolfram Research Sales Partner, asked me why ExcelLink` does not work anymore in Mathematica 10.1 (it asks for a MathLink program to launch). Find the fix attached, tested on Mathematica 10.1 and Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 (be careful on Windows 7: you might have to start Mathematica as Administrator, depending on whether you are allowed to replace ExcelLink.m).

Hello Nat, I don't have Excel 2013 32-bit on Windows 7 right now available, but I would advise to upgrade to Windows 10 and try again and if this does not work: just call Wolfram. Rolf

Hello Rolf,

I have version 3.6 and have installed the ExcelLink addin in Excel 2013 32-bit, Win7. When I open a spreadsheet with EVAL functions embedded, I get this error:

Get::noopen: Cannot open ExcelLinkAddinMathematicaLink`.

I'd appreciate any pointers you can offer. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Rolf,
I have version 3.5 and applied your fix. Now everything works in 10.1! Thank you for your effort in finding this solution.
