How to find symmetries in a picture?

Posted 9 years ago

Hi,community! Are in Wolfram any options/functions to find symmetries in a graphik (for example, see attached file - it consists from about 280 000 points - decisions of an equation - it's easy to see a repeated structures inside this picture)? It's possible to make a program, but, maybe exist a function inside Wolfram?

First I would plot the data without an axis (Axis -> False) and without frame (Frame -> False).

I would turn the plot into an image (Rasterize). Then use (2D)autocorrelation (ListCorrelate and ImageData) and check for 'spikes'. This gives you the dimensions of the pattern...

What did you try yourself?
