can some one please tell me how to do this. I've been trying all kinds of different combos with no luck. heres the problem :
consider a cooling tower for a nuclear reactor to be construted in a shape of a hyperboloid of one sheet. The diameter at base is 280m and the minimum diameter, 500m above the base is 200m. a) find the equation for the tower b) using technology (wolframAlpha) generate a plot of the tower.
so for a) the equation i came up with is (x^2/10,000)+(y^2/10000)-(3z^2/781250)=1 and -500<=z<=500. however what would be the x and y domain? and how do i put this on wolfram to get the plot? thanks for looking at this problem. james
