How do I return to expression after hitting "ctrl, 6" for exponentiation?

Posted 11 years ago

I just learned that pressing "ctrl" "6" will create a place point in exponentiation. Once done, how does one get out of it? For instance, if I want to create a trinomial, say x-square +3x +5, when I type x, ctrl 6, it sets a place for exponents, but I can't return to finish the trinomial. I know I can use the "^" sign for exponentiation and complete the trinomial; is that the only way I can accomplish the task.

As a matter of fact, I am new at this. I just can't get over how wonderful the program is and how eagerly Wolfram helps me learn the program. I just received my text "Hands-on Start to Wolfram Mathematica". I highly recommend it to anyone just learning the Mathematica program. Thanks again, Bill. Oh, I hope if that textbook gets revised, the "ctrl, spacebar" gets mentioned---if it's in there, I haven't come to it yet.

Ah, I see you are really new at this. Wait for it.

Thanks, Bill. I figured there must be a way to do it. I'm amazed at how Mathematica is so much more user-friendly than Mathcad, which I tried several years ago.
