Strange mathematica emails?

Posted 10 years ago

Hi folks.

I've been getting emails with subject headings like "Online and Live Mathematica training courses" and "Mathematica documentation, tutorials and examples".

In these emails are several links like: "http://url.wolfram.com/2WTYHo_i/"

The links look weird, so I don't click them. Are these emails legitimate? The sender is a "Tasha Dunaway".

Thanks in advance.

These are legitimate Wolfram emails and you can safely follow the hyperlinks. They inform you about useful new developments. The hyperlinks of this type are so called "shortened urls" used in order to avoid overly long hyperlinks in text. You can make your own using the Wolfram Langauge. For example, for this very post:

URLShorten["http://community.wolfram.com/groups/-/m/t/615438"]

https://wolfr.am/8i4Eg4Iw

In future please contact Wolfram directly at

http://www.wolfram.com/support/contact/email

for inquiries of a similar nature.
