Autocompletion repeatedly crashes Mathematica...

Since a few days, when I open a fresh Mathematica 10.4.0, start a new document and start typing 'Q' (from Query). It will load the autocompletion list, but fails at it and crashes Mathematica. Even repeating it over and over, very reproducible.

I have now switched off the suggestions, but they are very nice to have... Are these definitions stored somewhere, and could they be updated in the background somehow? It works flawlessly before... Can I reset it somehow?

Mac OSX, everything up to date.

Try deleting the history files from $UserBaseDirectory/SystemFiles/FrontEnd/SystemResources/FunctionalFrequency/. This issue is expected to be resolved in the just released version 10.4.1.

I see what the problem is: while the rest of the "CodeAssistHistoryXXX.m" files are <100kB. The file for 10.4 is 402MB!! Explains the crash!

I deleted all, but now once this functionality is triggered I get:

FunctionalFrequency-h-559

It does -however- not crash any more! Thanks!

To be more precise it triggers more self-test errors:

all these: 560, 561, 562, 563, 564, ......., 572 and 540.....
