Hi, I have MMA 11.2 on Ubuntu 16.04.2.
Staring a kernel, say, 1+1 results in a large download by MMA.
I can also see it spawns a java process.
Any hints, tips or incantations on how to stop this?
Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Mark

Go to Preferences → Internet → uncheck Allow the Wolfram System to access the internet.
The setting may be in a different location in older versions, but it shoulnd’t be hard to find.
