Initializing the function

Hello,
I am using Mathematica 8 and i have one technical query as- I have written one function in one file e.g.XYZ, if i use this function and calculate value in the same file, it gives me correct result e.g.0.98546 but if i open a new .nb and try to calculate the value through same function, it gives me different value e.g. 0.83467. Is it a problem of function initialization? if yes, how should i handle it?
