Can mathematica show you the steps in between problem and solution, like Wolfram Alpha? If not, can Alpha be used with mathematica subscription, or do you need to order seperately?

You can call Wolfram|Alpha from Mathematica to show steps. If you have Mathematica, then no Pro W|A subscription is needed to do this.
