Thanks Sander, that is nice. ( Delay because I had lots of hassles upgrading to win 10, eventually had to rebuild my PC) Is there a command to Plot this **without** the contour lines? I tried replacing with GraphPlot3D but this wont accept some... |
Thanks Gianluca, Could you show a simple example of the difference? I looked them up in documentation but nothing stood out; for example doc. shoiws: ContourPlot[f,{x,Subscript[x, min],Subscript[x, max]},{y,Subscript[y, min],Subscript[y,... |
the Wolfram Demonstrations Project has a number of useful bits for gradient, but nothing along those lines for divergence and curl - so maybe someone will see this and build some demonstrations for those as well :-) $X^2 + x*y + y^2$ is just an... |
That.is.awesome! |
Thanks SM, that's much closer. Should I conclude that there is nothing in Wolfram that would return a simplified/rationalised solution? In this case I was checking a result that I knew was at least close, but - for example - if I wanted a simple... |
Thanks, but I want the output polynomial grouped by powers of x, so something like 1 +bx + (a^2+b...)x^2 + (......)x^3 + and so on? |
Hi & thanks - this sounds real good, but when I try what you have - "reduce [ sin[x+Iy]==0, {x,y}] ", I still get the error '1-y is not a valid variable. '? I think I have cleared all variables etc., so not sure what needs fixing my end? I also... |
That's cool thanks - and I will especially remember the simple but clever check - but it seems I would need to know the correct intermediate identities first, so my question is now - what if I had no idea of how to approach this? I was hoping for... |
Thanks David, but in 1) I wanted to know how to look at similar matrices to the rotation matrix as well? I tried Clear[y], got the same result. I note that even when I start a new notebook, it seems to keep previous values - is there a clear all... |
