ABOUT ME:

I'm a long-time user of Mathematica who received v2 on six diskettes for my Mac Plus. I'm now on v9, and I've owned every version from 2 on up.

I was a math major at Carnegie Institute of Technology from 1962 to 1966. Courses in computer science were the purview of the math department, and the head of the department was Dr Alan Perlis who was then the president of the Association for Computing Machinery. Dr Perlis was developing a Mathematica like computer language he called Formula Algol. (He was a member of the committee that defined the Algol language.)

I've been a scientific (as opposed to accounting) computer programmer since I got out of the army in 1968. I've worked mainly on military applications such as radars for anti-ballistic missiles, military communications, and the global positioning system. Much of my work has been overseas: twelve years on the Kwajalein Atoll, seven months in Saudi Arabia, and six weeks in Germany.

I'm retired, but working part-time as a math tutor for a local community college and its associated prep school.
