Ricardo Martinez-Lagunes is a consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
He has previously participated as Senior Environmental Economist in the rapid environmental and economic assessment of Uganda for the World Bank. He also conducted a census and estimation of rehabilitation costs of wastewater treatment plants in Mexico for the National Association of Water and Sanitation Entities (ANEAS).
He was previously Manager of Water Planning at the National Water Commission (Conagua), where he coordinated the development and implementation of the National Water Program 2020-2024 and the National Water Information System (SINA).
At the UN Secretariat, New York, he was responsible for the implementation of the System of Environmental and Economic Accounts for Water in various countries.
He is a graduate of UNAM, with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the California Institute of Technology. He also completed postgraduate studies in the National School of Public Works in Lyon, France and is a graduate of the Advanced Studies Program in Sustainable Development from the Colegio de México. He is co-coordinator of the water committee of the Association of Civil Engineers of Mexico.
