[GIF] Design Your Own Commemorative Coin

Posted 6 years ago

I was recently share a idea on Wolfram Demonstration Projects, using ScalingTransform to compress 3D model into high relief coin design. http://demonstrations.wolfram.com/DesignYourOwnCommemorativeCoin/ enter image description here

Unforturnately, Demo site is not support version 11 at the moment. So I published a simple and cutting version to fit the current site. Actually, this demo is more playful with full version and more 3D models.

Dear Samuel,

Thank you for your interesting and reply. The Chinese warrior model is very cool. Please find another post below of 3D Printing coin, I made a few months before. If it interested you. https://community.wolfram.com/groups/-/m/t/1569688

It's possible to use Mathematica to design and create 3D relief model for CNC or 3D printing. However, if the initial model is big or complex, the processing will be quite time-consume. It model and mesh quality is not high, it needs effort for debug some errors

I found this post just now and I think it's a brilliant idea. I've never thought about it like that. I guess you can use any 3d model to compress it into high relief coin like https://www.artec3d.com/3d-models/bronze-statue and find bronze 3d machining service for CNC milling. This is very inspiring.
