Ideas for a physics-based Mathematica project?

I am looking to make a physics based Mathematica project. Ideally the project would take around 12 hours, gathering any experimental data and analyse the findings.

I'd have full access to university physics labs. The project would be for 2nd year physics students in the end and would aim to introduce using Mathematica in their work.

Perhaps using a Raspberry Pi to do the data acquisition, since Mathematica comes for free on it.

How about some spectral analysis?
A to D some square waves -FFT - put through an amp - FFT - amp characterisation.
Or maybe - something with diffraction patterns.

Many mobile device now come with accelerometers.

I love the idea of a project where a class with professor comes to take a roller coaster ride and do measurements simultaneously. Then data mine with Wolfram Language the logs for energy conservation, sharp turns, etc.
