It appears as if Sunrise[] and Sunset[] return unevaluated with the July 29, 2014 version. Is this a known issue?

After some exploration, it seems this functionality is viable to include with the distribution. It should show up whenever we next put out an update.
Not yet. We're actively discussing this, though. I wouldn't go so far as to say that the content of our device distribution is set in stone just yet, in any case.
Thanks (not only for the reply, but for keeping Mathematica to a sensible size for the RPi). Is a list of the functionality removed for this purpose made publicly available?
Yes. We strive to keep the Raspberry Pi distribution as small as possible to keep it sensible for bundling. The underlying component that provides this is particularly large, so it was a known omission.
