Thank you for this remarkable contribution. I was particularly interested by the issue about CO2-rise before Temperature-rise, or Temperature-rise before CO2-rise in these long records. This, because Claude Allègre, a well-known and extremely influent geologist in France (he was minister of educatipn and science in the eighties), and a coterie of his friends at the French Academy of Science, have long fought against the IPCC conclusions long before Trump. One of their "major" arguments was precisely that they claimed to have observed in one case that the CO2 rise was lagging behind the temperature rise. Your final conclusion "Lead/lag analysis shows the two are essentially in phase within the chronological uncertainty" closes the debate.
