Watching evolution happen: lactase persistence in 8,000 years of ancient DNA

Posterior mean frequency of the lactase-persistence allele (rs4988235-A) across Europe over the last 8,000 years (about 6050 BC to AD 1950), on the TemperatureMap scale. White-ringed dots are the ancient individuals dated within ±400 years of the moving window; the inset tracks the 95% credible-interval width — where the map is honest about not knowing. This copy is the output of the ExportHeroAnimation call executed in §13 of this very notebook; it is placed up front so the destination is visible before the journey.
