New Mersenne and the largest known prime is found: 2^136279841-1

Posted 4 days ago

A new highest prime was announced at mersenne.org , which is a Mersenne prime:

$$2^{136279841}-1$$

The beginning and end are

88169432750383326555...55076706219486871551.

This also leads to the newest known perfect number:

$$2^{136279840} \times(2^{136279841}-1)$$

The beginning and the end are

38869244357621839661...38972750732330008576

Some code for finding the ending digits:

 (PowerMod[2, 136279841, 10^80] - 1) PowerMod[2, 136279840, 10^80]

I wonder if Mersenne is more useful than Solinas prime in cryptography or not.
